    Homemade Apple Pie Spice Recipe

    This homemade apple pie spice recipe is perfect for all of your favorite apple recipes during the fall baking season. This simple spice blend contains cinnamon, nutmeg, cardamom, and allspice!

    Making your own apple pie spice mix is so easy and less expensive than just buying it at the grocery store. Usually pumpkin spice is the star flavor of fall, but apple spice is so good too!

    All you need are 4 ingredients and a spice jar in order to make this at home. It couldn't be any easier!

    Why You'll Love This Spice Blend

    • All you need are simple spices.
    • It's cheaper than the store-bought version.
    • You can add it to coffee or your morning tea.

    This apple spice blend can be use for so much more than just apple pie. You could mix it with sugar to make cinnamon toast, add it to your yogurt, and use it in so many more fall recipes.

    Ingredients Needed

    Here are some notes on the ingredients we'll be using. For the full ingredients list, look at the recipe card below.

    • Ground cinnamon
    • Ground nutmeg
    • Ground cardamom
    • Ground allspice

    For all of these spices, choose your favorite brand.

    Instructions

    Here are the step by step instructions on how to make your own apple pie spice.

    Step 1: In a small bowl, mix together all of the spices with a whisk until thoroughly combined.

    Step 2: Place the spice blend in an airtight container or jar. Feel free to store it in your spice drawer, spice cabinet, or any dark place.

    Uses For Apple Spice

    These warm spices can be used for so much more than just apple pie.

    You could add it to coffee or hot chocolate. You could even sprinkle it over your oatmeal. It'll add cozy fall flavors to anything you can think of!

    It's also good to season your overnight oats or baked apples. The possibilities are endless. 

    Storage Tips

    This blend of spices will stay fresh for 1-2 years, depending on the expiration date.

    Be sure to keep them stored at room temperature in a dry place.

    Expert Baking Tips

    • Spices: You'll want to use ground spices. Whole spices won't work.
    • Expiration Date: Before you start, check the freshness of your spices. If they're expired. then they won't work for your homemade spice blend.
    • Supplies: Here are the jars I used. It comes in a pack of 4. And then these chalkboard labels are my favorite. They also come with pens!

    What Is Apple Spice Seasoning Made Of?

    It consists of cinnamon, nutmeg, cardamom, and allspice. Sometimes other blends will include ground cloves or ground ginger.

    Ingredients:
      

    • 4 tablespoons ground cinnamon
    • 1 ½ teaspoons ground nutmeg
    • ½ teaspoon ground cardamom
    • ½ teaspoon allspice

    Instructions:
     

    • In a small bowl, mix all of the ingredients together. Store your homemade apple spice in an airtight container or in a jar.
    • This will last in your pantry, if kept airtight, for up to 2 years.
