Hello! My name is Karissa Parrish and I am the redhead with blue eyes behind Ginger Snap's Baking Affairs.
I am an ex-basketball player turned self-taught home baker. Some of my earliest memories are spent in my grandma's kitchen watching her bake all sorts of goodies. Now, I am the one in her kitchen making all of her favorite desserts.
Why did I start a baking blog?
For the longest time basketball was my top passion in life, just behind Jesus Christ. But I've also been a big foodie, especially for desserts. I wanted a space where I could be creative and have fun with baking, so I thought, why not a blog?
Most of us, like myself, have probably never been to culinary school or even taken a baking class. I want to assure you, though, that anyone can be an efficient home baker. We just need a little guidance and direction to get there and I hope through my recipes you'll feel more confident in your own baking skills.
My goal is to produce and share the type of baked goods that I love to eat; what I would feel proud to serve my husband, family, or anyone else. And if it includes chocolate, then I'm even more excited!
Why the Name Ginger Snap's Baking Affairs?
First of all, when trying to decide a name for my blog, I knew I wanted to incorporate my red hair into the title. Being a redhead, especially with blue eyes, is a pretty rare combination in this world. I wanted a unique blogging name to go along with my unique look.
In high school, my best friends nicknamed me ginger snaps. To this day, they have me saved in their phones as "ginger snaps". So after all of these years, I've finally succumbed to their nickname for me and proudly named my blog Ginger Snap's Baking Affairs. That title highlights not only my red hair, but also the big idea of this blog: baking.
My logo for the blog was created by my incredibly talented 14-year-old sister, Kimberly. She is very artistic and I couldn't be happier with the design she created for Ginger Snap's Baking Affairs.
I have been married to my wonderful husband, Jason, for a little over two years now and we have an adopted cat named Gus. We are currently a cute little family of three!
Being married is awesome. I have the most loving, supportive, and truly remarkable man as my best friend and husband. I couldn't be more thankful.
Together we help lead worship at our church. He leads and sings from acoustic guitar while I sing and play the piano. We also love to watch anime together and eat Thai food. If we could have Thai food every night for dinner, then we most certainly would!
